The idea of filming your own wedding is a relatively new one so you're bound to have lots of questions. We've done our best to answer as many for you as we can here but if there's anything else you'd like to know drop us a line or give us a bell.
How much does it cost?
Our packages start from just £350 and include the hire of the video camera, a tripod, carry case and top light. For more information regarding our packages, click here.
Do you offer an edit only service?
Unfortunately not. Our packages include our tutorial and recommended shot list along with our industry expertise and broadcast quality cameras. This means we guarantee you a professional DVD you'll be proud of.
Can we take the cameras abroad?
YES! This just involves taking out a longer hire period. Our cameras must be delivered to a UK address before you travel and can be carried on as hand luggage. Check out our destination package here.
How do we make a booking?
We've tried to make this as simple as possible. All you have to do is fill in the online booking form and we'll do the rest! We do recommend you book sooner rather than later as we book up pretty quick!
What are your payment terms?
We ask for a 50% deposit of the total package at the time of booking (which secures the camera for your wedding) and the remaining 50% three weeks prior to your wedding day.
How do we pay?
We prefer payments to be made by bank transfer or cheque. Details of which will be given to you with your email confirmation.
What happens once we've made a booking?
Once you've made a booking we'll send you a confirmation email along with our hire contract. As you are hiring a piece of very expensive equipment we'll need at least three forms of proof of address, such as a copy of a utility bill or statement - we don't want originals! You'll also be sent our step-by-step camera tutorial which will give you all the know-how you need to film your own wedding.
How are the cameras delivered?
We use a national courier service to guarantee your camera arrives in plenty of time. Your camera will arrive two days before your wedding and be collected on the first working day after. You will need to make sure that someone will be in to accept delivery/collection. There may be an additional charge if you live outside the UK mainland.
Can the cameras be sent to a different address?
We can deliver the cameras wherever suits you as long as there is someone at the property to sign for them. If our courier is unable to deliver or collect the camera there is a £50 charge per camera to allow for the extra courier costs incurred.
Do we have to package the cameras?
Just pop the cameras back in the packaging they were delivered in, along with the returns label that we'll provide.
What if the cameras don't arrive?
We send our cameras two days before your wedding to give us plenty of time to find a solution should a problem occur. If however, the cameras don't arrive due to circumstances beyond our control (such as freak weather conditions) a full refund will be offered.
How will my friends know what to film?
Everything is covered in our tutorials and we'll put together a list for you following our pre-wedding chat which determines what is unique to your wedding and therefore not to be missed!
Are the cameras easy to use?
YES! This is why we've chosen them. They're really easy to use and all the settings are pre-configured so all you need to do is press record.
What if we have a problem with the camera on the day?
All our cameras are checked thoroughly before we send them out. We strongly advise you check them when you receive them and if there's a problem we'll send out a replacement camera immediately. We are also always on the other end of the phone should any of your cameramen/ladies need any help and advice!
What happens if a camera gets damaged/broken?
Our cameras are fully insured by us in case of theft or damage. However, there is a £250 excess which is payable by you, should we have to make a claim. Of course we make allowances for general wear and tear.
What if the footage is terrible?
As long as the filming is assigned to a few willing volunteers there is no reason why the footage would be terrible. We haven't had any unusable footage yet! Filming is straightforward but it is your responsibility to ensure your filmers take their responsibility seriously!
Are we able to pick our own music?
YES! We use a Limited Manufacture License to allow us to legally use any music in our DVDs. Or you can let us be creative and choose. The choice is yours!
How long will it take to get our DVD?
We aim to get all DVDs delivered within 6 weeks. Sometimes it can take longer because we'd rather do a great job than rush but we'll always keep you informed if there is a delay.
What influence do I have over the DVD?
A lot! We'll have a long chat about what's important to you so we can customise the edit to include everything you want.
What's on the DVD?
Your finished DVD will be broken down into chapters which include the best bits (apx 20 mins), a chapter for the whole ceremony, and a chapter for the speeches. Roughly, total running time is between an hour and an hour and a half. You also have the added option of our video booth to make your wedding really stand out from the crowd.
Do you recommend other suppliers?
Here at the handmade film company we love all things vintage and work closely with other vintage suppliers in the industry. Therefore we've come up with a list of our favourites from crockery hire to photographers to help you plan your perfect vintage wedding. Click here to view them!
What if I want to keep ALL of the footage that we filmed?
If you would like to own all of the footage (along with the edited film) that's no problem. We can provide it for you on a USB memory stick. See packages for details.
